As an editorial consultant and a sustainability strategist, I help brands shape their spirit in an original and creative way so that they stand for something, and they stand out for it. For BOUTECO projects, I research how best to build sustainability into a brand story not in a greenwashing way, and work with the team to explore the best ways to implement this in an inspiring, uplifting, engaging way (through compelling content from film to social media posts to more consumer-friendly CSR pages which draw people in, rather than just pushes out their key messages). I recognised a few years ago the need to “sex up” sustainability and talk about the travel industry’s more technical back-of-house operations in a way that made them a compelling company to support.
As founding editor of Mr & Mrs Smith, and editor-in-chief for a decade and a half, I cultivated a unique understanding of the boutique travel space from a media, marketing, booking and branding perspective as well as the customer journey and guest experience. Meeting philanthropic hoteliers and working with award-winning travel brands all over the world is what inspired me to share the most inspiring stories of sustainability through Bouteco.co. There’s nothing I love more than sharing ideas on how to make a property surprise, delight and stand out, from its look and feel to cultivating a voice and personality for a travel brand’s communications and social media through to its service proposition.
